This online course is designed to enhance your understanding of significant environmental challenges and introduce you to environmental management systems. It begins by explaining essential terms and highlighting the primary environmental issues the world is encountering. You will explore environmental impacts, with a focus on global climate change, including topics like greenhouse gases, carbon, acid rain, and biodiversity loss.
The course also provides information on key environmental laws and covers Environmental Management systems and their benefits for businesses. Additional subjects include product life-cycles, corporate and personal social responsibility, renewable and non-renewable energy, and the three pillars of sustainability. The course will discuss waste management and reduction through consumer choices and Waste to Energy initiatives. You will learn about the waste management hierarchy, which outlines prioritized actions for commercial waste producers to handle waste. Finally, the course covers water resource management and oil storage, including planning for emergency hazardous substance spills and correctly completing a spillage report.
